Subfamily Macroglossinae
This species is found in NW Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, NSW and Victoria. We have seen it here between November and February.
In the early evening it has come to the garden plant Abelia, hovering to dip its proboscis into the flowers to sip nectar.
Larval Foodplant
The larva feeds on VITACEAE: Cayratia clematidea (wild grape), Cissus antarctica (Kangaroo vine), Cissus oblonga, *Vitis vinifera (wine grape/edible grape) and Vitis vinifera rupestris (ornamental grape). We have yet to find the larva at Claire Cottage.
