Ectropis fractaria

Family GEOMETRIDAE

Subfamily Ennominae

Ectropis fractaria, the Ringed Bark Moth, is found in southern Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. We have seen this moth from September to February.

The caterpillars feed on Acacia. They burrow under the soil to pupate. Reference https://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/enno/fractaria.html

The following caterpillar was hanging at night on a web. As we did not breed it through we cannot be sure of its identity.
