Eudocima materna occurs all over Australia apart from South Australia and Tasmania. It also occurs on the African continent, India. the East and New Zealand. We saw this female moth in December.
Its caterpillars feed on vines from the Menispermaceae family which in this area include Carronia multisepala and Stephania japonica.
