Nacoleia rhoeoalis

Family CRAMBIDAE

Subfamily Spilomelinae

Nacoleia rhoeoalis is found in all Australian states and territories. We have seen this species from September to February.

N. rhoeoalis has geniculate antennae (that is a bend or elbow). This is thought to enhance sensory and pheromone detection.

Larval foodplant

The larvae feed on dead Eucalyptus leaves, helping to break down the leaf litter.
