Pararguda nasuta

Family LASIOCAMPIDAE

Pararguda nasuta The Wattle Snout Moth is found in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. We have seen this moth from September to March.

P. nasuta and P. albida are very similar and difficult to tell apart. Below is a diagram showing the difference.

Larval Foodplant

MIMOSACEAE Acacia species; SANTALACEAE Exocarpus cupressiformis, and PINACEAE Pinus radiata

We think the caterpillars below on Acacia melanoxylon are Pararguda nasuta but we didn’t raise them through to adults so can’t be sure.
