Ghost Moths -Swift Moths: Primitive moths with about 120 named species in Australia (9 genera) and further species awaiting description.
Hepialidae females produce copies amounts of eggs. They either scatter them in flight or deposit them among hostplants near the ground.
The larva either feed on leaves (Oncopera), or are stem borers (Aenetus and Zelotypia) or root feeders (Abantiades). Some species of Oncopera inhabit rainforest and likely feed on dead leaf litter.
